The 16th member of the Irish delegation holds a US passport and is part of a separate deportation process.

15 Irish citizens are en route to Greece after being released from custody in Israel.

They were detained last week while taking part in the Global Sumud flotilla, attempting to bring aid to Gaza.

Israel says it has deported 171 activists - including Greta Thunberg - from the flotilla to Greece and Slovakia.

A spokesperson for the Irish group says they wouldn't have been forced to risk their lives if the government had imposed sanctions on Israel and upheld human rights.
