A man in his 40s was treated by emergency services after being stabbed but he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The house was sealed off for a forensic and technical exam and a man was arrested.
He's being held at a Garda station in the Dublin Region and can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
