Investigations are ongoing and gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
A man's been arrested following an assault on two off duty gardai in Dublin on Friday night.
One of the gardai remains in a critical condition in Beaumont hospital following the assault.
The second garda was treated for injuries in St. James Hospital but has since been discharged.
Gardai have described the attack as unprovoked.
Garda commissioner Drew Harris has visited the injured man in hospital while Taoiseach Simon Harris posted on X, saying his thoughts are with the victims, and perpetrators of the attack will face the full rigours of the law.
