Videos circulated online of a candidate confronting a Garda, who declined to allow them entry without wearing a mask.
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors has described the treatment of one of its members at the Dublin Bay South By-Election Count Centre as 'abhorrent'.
It comes after videos circulated of one of the candidates, who refused to wear a mask in to the centre, confronting a garda who declined her entry last Friday.
General Secretary, Antoinette Cunningham, says 'the accusations, vitriol, and sustained verbal attacks on our member and his colleagues are utterly condemned'.
The AGSI says it would like to remind the public that Covid-19 restrictions are not Garda regulations but Government measures, introduced on grounds of public health.
