Gardaí objected to bail citing the seriousness of the charges.
A court has heard a 30-year-old man accused of stabbing another man on Grafton Street in Dublin over the weekend was found next to a blood-stained knife on the Luas.
Algerian native Mohamed Akrouf, of Lower Rathmines Road in Dublin 6, appeared in court this afternoon.
Mohamed Akrouf is charged with assault causing harm and being in possession of a knife.
Garda Martin O'Rourke told Dublin District Court this afternoon that he made no reply under caution.
Garda O'Rourke said in a bail hearing that Mr Akrouf was allegedly spotted on CCTV in a fight, before running away from the scene.
The court heard he was then arrested by Gardai on the Luas at St Stephen's Green, where its claimed there was a blood-stained knife beside him.

Mr Akrouf was refused bail, and remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday.
