Over 2,500 people were caught speeding
Some 196 people were arrested for drink and drug driving over the Bank Holiday weekend.
This Garda operation was in effect from 7AM last Friday to 7AM on Tuesday.
In that time, one person died on our roads - a man in his 20s in Galway on Sunday afternoon.
A further nine collisions took place that resulted in nine serious and life-threatening injuries.
Over the February Bank Holiday weekend, Gardaí carried out 1,248 checkpoints.
196 people were arrested for driving under the Influence (123 Alcohol/73 Drugs).
Fixed charge offences for other road offences during the period included:
216 for mobile phone use, 123 learners driving unaccompanied and 69 for driving without a seatbelt.
Speeding continues to be an issue on our roads with a motorist detected going 113 in a 50 zone in Galway, and another doing 160 in an 80 zone in Louth.
Gardaí are appealing to all road users, regardless of their reasons for being on the road, or their mode of transport, to slow down and stay safe.
