Gardaí have confirmed a 12 year-old boy died in a collision between a car and a train in Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo yesterday.
There's continued disruption on the rail network this morning following two crashes yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the scene of a "serious incident" near Ballyhaunis in County Mayo last night when a car, carrying a number of people, and the Dublin Heuston to Westport train collided at a level crossing just before 9pm.
The line between Westport and Athlone will remain closed until further notice, with bus transfers in operation this morning.
It followed a separate collision involving a tractor on the same rail line near Tullamore in Co Offaly shortly before 4pm.
One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Services were suspended with bus transfers put in place for the passengers who were impacted.
