A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Annie McCarrick.
Originally from New York, Annie had moved to Dublin in 1993 but vanished just weeks later.
She had spent time in Dublin in the late 80's, studying at St Patricks College in Drumcondra and Maynooth.
Gardaí say a man in his 60's was detained on suspicion of her murder this morning.
A search operation is also underway at a house in the Clondalkin area of Dublin and the home and garden will be the subject of both technical and forensic examinations.
