Says Kildare TD on World Cancer Day.
The average monthly cost of Cancer in Ireland is €756.
This has been described as an "institutional failure" by a Kildare TD.
Social Democrats Co Leader Catherine Murphy has called for the scrapping of the €80 fee for cancer patients who do not have a medical card.
"We have also called for the end of the use of debt collectors.
"Opposition is limited in bringing something forward to get the use of the practice abolished.
"They have not opposed our motion but they haven't said when they will deliver on it either," she said.
The cost of parking at hospitals is of huge concern to the Social Democrats.
"We are told by the Irish Cancer society that this is one of the biggest costs that cancer patients have.
"There's a lot facing people with cancer, but not adding to the economic walls is what we need to do.
"We need to turn good will into action," she insisted.
Co- Leader Social Democrats and Kildare North TD, Catherine Murphy spoke with Ciara Noble on Friday morning's Kildare Today:
