Unions backing proposals brokered at WRC
SIPTU, Connect and Unite trade unions have recommended the acceptance of proposals over the future of Tara Mines near Navan.
An agreement was reached at the Workplace Relations Commission early this morning.
They include support packages for employees during the period of care and maintenance, and a review process.
Plans to suspend operations at the mine and temporarily lay off 650 workers were announced last month.
The temporary closure is scheduled to commence on July 14th.
SIPTU Divisional Organiser Adrian Kane says they will be putting the proposals to their members on Monday evening.
