Suffolk County police responded to a call from a man who said a woman was unconscious on a boat which was docked at Montauk Yacht Club in New York State.
Police in American are investigating following the death of an Irishwoman originally from Carlow.
The 33-year-old was found dead on a yacht on Monday night.

Officers say CPR was performed on the woman, however she was pronounced dead by first responders.
Police have named her as Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra of Manhattan, ooriginally from Carlow.
In a statement from police, they say the cause of death will be determined by a post mortem exam.
