Tánaiste Simon Harris Presses Haitian Authorities As Irish Aid Worker Remains Captive

Gena Heraty from Mayo was kidnapped on Sunday from the orphanage where she's works.

Talks have been held overnight to try and secure the release of an Irish aid worker in Haiti.

Gena Heraty from Mayo was kidnapped on Sunday from the orphanage where she's works.

Tánaiste Simon Harris has spoken with his counterpart in Haiti to try and secure her release.

University of Galway lecturer Fiona McGarry produced a documentary on Gena in 2012 following the earthquake in Haiti.

She says Gena, who's lived there for over 30 years, is a very inspiring person.
