The Housing Minister meets with Irish Water and local authorities
The Housing Minister is meeting with Irish Water and local authorities, following a system failure at the Ballymore Eustace water treatment plant in Kildare and another in Wexford.
More than 50 people took ill due to unsafe water entering public supplies in Gorey.
Irish Water admits the failure at the Ballymore Eustace, which serves parts of North Kildare and Dublin, ‘potentially put public health at risk'.
The Environmental Protection Agency has described both as 'serious incidents' and says there were unacceptable delays in notifying it and the HSE.
Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien says he's furious and has called for an immediate report to ensure water supplies are safeguarded in future:
