The Government says its an acknowledgement many households are struggling this Christmas, with rising costs putting added pressure on families.

1.5 million social welfare recipients will start receiving their Christmas bonus from today.

370 million euro in payments will be made to lone parents, carers, pensioners and the unemployed over the course of this week.
