Gardai took control of a site on Donabate on the 1st of September as part of an investigation into a missing child who hadn't been seen in four years and was believed to be seven years old now.
They say the remains will be subject to careful and sensitive exhumation from the current burial site.
Formal identification will be carried out, including DNA analysis.
Daniel is known to have lived at the Gallery Apartments in Donabate, and concerns were raised by TUSLA to An Garda Síochána on Friday 29th August 2025.
Gardai carried out a technical exam of an apartment in The Gallery Apartments on the 31st of August, as well as house to house inquiries.
