A man who raped a woman in her sleep after breaking into her home in Cork has been jailed for nine years.
Kamal Kumar Nepali, of Beech Park, Ballincollig, Cork, was described in court as a “predator” who was on the hunt for an intoxicated woman to rape.
On the morning of the 1st of March 2022, the survivor of this attack awoke to find Kamal Kumar Nepali in bed beside her with his arms around her.
She was covered in love bites and bruises.
According to gardai, he had broken into four other houses that night looking for vulnerable, intoxicated women.
Nepali had raped her during the night while she was asleep.
She had been out for a few drinks with some friends that night so would have been in a deeper sleep than usual.
The 24-year-old was found guilty just before Christmas and jailed today for nine years.
