He says he had to deal with 19 bills in the first three weeks of this month

Two Oireachtas Committees will meet later to discuss complaints from the President about the time he's being given to scrutinise legislation.

Micheal D Higgins has written to the Ceann Comhairle, Kildare South Fianna Fáil TD, Seán O'Feargháil, complaining about the rush of legislation at the end of the Dáil term.

The President has a week to scrutinise bills before signing them - but was presented with 19 since the start of July and 9 in just one day.

A cross-party group of senators and TDs is meeting this afternoon, but Junior Minister Niall Collins denies there's a problem
