Stone Roses bass player Gary 'Mani' Mounfield has died at the age of 63.
Former bandmate Ian Brown has confirmed the news online.
Liam Gallagher has described him as his "hero".
Mani later joined Primal Scream, before reforming the Roses.
He was due to go on a speaking tour next September, reflecting on his life in rock and roll.
Though he was born in Manchester, his mother comes from Athy.
He was honoured with a Made of Athy plaque in 2019.
