This new report compares compensation awarded in Ireland to that of England and Wales for minor soft tissue injuries sustained in road traffic collisions.
It analysed 12,000 settlements made under the Personal Injuries Guidelines between 2022 and 2024.
Irelands award levels for compensation were significantly higher.
Over the three year period the average settlement in Ireland by the Injuries Resolution Board was almost seven thousand four hundred euro, this was almost four times higher than the average in England and Wales.
Meanwhile the average insurer settlement – just over nine thousand euro – was almost five times higher.
