A scheme is due to open in Kildare in the coming months.
The State's first cost rental homes have been unveiled in Balbriggan in Dublin, ahead of opening of a scheme in Kildare.
25 new homes, which are a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bed properties, are available at roughly half the cost of private rentals in the area.
Tenants will be able to stay for as long as they wish, once the rent is paid and the tenancy agreement is followed.
Seven similar schemes in Kildare, Cork and other areas of Dublin are due to be delivered over the coming months.
