Police confirm all victims were from the same household
A murder investigation is underway following a tragic shooting in County Fermanagh that has left three people dead and a fourth seriously injured.
Police were called to a house on Drummeer Road in Maguiresbridge earlier this morning, Wednesday 23 July.
Officers and paramedics from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended the scene, where two people were pronounced dead.
A third victim later died in hospital, while a fourth person remains in serious condition.
Superintendent Robert McGowan, District Commander for Fermanagh and Omagh, confirmed that all four individuals had suffered gunshot wounds and were from the same household.
“I am keen to, first and foremost, express my sympathy to family members and loved ones who are today left in total shock, and who will inevitably be struggling to come to terms with their unimaginable loss,” he said.
“This is a quiet, rural location and I am aware that this tragic event will have sent waves of sadness throughout the community. Please be assured that you will see a continued police presence in the area, as we continue to carry out our enquiries.”
Detectives are now working to piece together the circumstances of what happened.
Police have appealed for patience as the investigation continues and have pledged to issue further updates in due course.
