This evening an anniversary mass is taking place in St Brigid’s Church in Mountbolus
An anniversary mass be held in Co Offaly this evening to mark the first anniversary of the death of Ashling Murphy.
The school teacher was killed in an alleged assault in Tullamore on this day last year.
23-year-old Ashling Murphy was killed while going for a run along the Grand Canal in Tullamore on this day last year.
This evening an anniversary mass is taking place in St.Brigid’s Church in Mountbolus to mark the first anniversary of the death.
The traditional Irish music group that Ashling played with since she was a child will perform at the mass.
Durrow National School, were she taught, will also remember Ashling with a special school anniversary mass that will be led by the pupils and staff.
Meanwhile a memorial fund set up in her honour and supported by her family was officially launched last week.
The Ashling Murphy Memorial Fund committee, say the family were “continuing to grieve the heavy loss of Ashling every day."
