Tolls Increase On Congested M50 Sparks Protest

The toll increases come despite TII admitting the M50 is full to capacity, and had its highest number of crashes and incidents last year.

Aontu is calling for tolls on the M50 to be scrapped, following an early-morning protest on motorway bridges across Dublin today.

Party members and councillors hung banners over the M50 in opposition to toll increases introduced on New Year’s Day.

A car using the M50 typically pays around €2.60 with a toll tag.

The toll increases come despite TII admitting the M50 is full to capacity, and had its highest number of crashes and incidents last year.

Geraldine Herbert, Motoring Editor with the Sunday Independent, explains why that's the case.
