The former Australia national team boss has signed a 12-month rolling contract and joins from Japanese side Yokahama F. Marinos.
The Scottish Premiership club says he'll start immediately and will arrive in Glasgow "as soon as current protocols allow."
His big job will be to win the title again, having finished 25 points behind champions Rangers.
