It will take place at a purpose-built circuit in Bugesera, 25 miles south of the capital, Kigali.

There'll be an F1 race in Rwanda from “the early 2030s”.

A ten-year agreement has been reached to take the sport back to the continent after South Africa last hosted a Grand Prix in the 1990s.

It will take place at a purpose-built circuit in Bugesera, 25 miles south of the capital, Kigali.

Seven-time world champion Hamilton has been a long-time advocate for F1 to return to the continent, the last race there was in 1993.

He most recently said, "I’ve always said that we need to have a Grand Prix in Africa. For me, it’s the most important continent and the most beautiful continent."

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali additionally remarked, "today is a landmark moment for Formula One. With Rwanda joining the calendar from the next decade, our sport will race in every inhabited continent, bringing the world championship closer than ever to fans around the globe.

It’s not yet clear where the race will fit into the calendar.
