Naas, Maynooth and Celbridge into UPMC SHC Semi Finals; Next Weekends SFC/IFC/JFC Fixtures; Liverpool v Palace Tonight, KDFL Lumsden League Cup wins for Clane, Coill Dubh and Old Fort Celtic McCormack 7th in Euro Women's Marathon

 

Beginning with the UPMC Senior Hurling Championship over the weekend and we now know three of the four semi-finalists.

Naas beat Maynooth 4-26 to 1-8 and Clane defeated Coill Dubh 1-17 to 1-14 in Group A.

In Group B, Celbridge beat Leixlip 4-31 to 1-18.  Confey were 1-13 to 0-15 winners over Ardclough.

Naas will play the winners of Clane and Confey in the semi final and Maynooth play Celbridge in the other semi final.

Meanwhile the Annual Hurling for Cancer fundraiser takes place in St. Conleth’s Park tomorrow evening at 6pm

80 of the country’s top hurlers along with many celebrities will take part, with the teams being managed by Brian Cody and jockey Davy Russell.

The event is the brainchild of racehorse trainer Jim Bolger, the event has raised in excess of one million euro in recent years.

Kfm will be there broadcasting live from 5pm.  Admission is 10 euro and all proceeds go to the Irish Cancer Society

Israel Olatunde has booked his place in the semi-finals of 100 metres at the European Athletics Championships in Munich.

The 20-year-old ran a personal best of 10.19 seconds to win his heat and was just 0.01 off Paul Hession's Irish record.

Olatunde will be in semi-final action tomorrow night.

Fionnuala McCormack finished 7th in the Women's marathon
