Rory McIlroy wins seventh Race to Dubai title despite losing in Dubai playoff.
Rory McIlroy says picking up the European Order of Merit for a seventh time is beyond anything he could have dreamed of.
The Masters champion capped off a memorable year by winning the Race to Dubai, despite losing a play-off to Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
McIlroy's seventh title leaves him just one off the record held by Colin Montgomerie.
Seamus Power missed the chance to secure his PGA Tour card last night, with four bogeys in his final five holes at the Bermuda Championship.
The Waterford native finished on seven-under-par - five strokes adrift of the winner Adam Schenk.
Power moves up to 129th in the Fed Ex Cup rankings, but needs to be inside the top 100 after this week's RSM Classic to retain his full playing rights.
On one-under-par, Leona Maguire ended in a tie for 52nd at the Annika tournament on the LPGA Tour.
Sweden's Linn Grant was the winner on 19-under-par.
