GAA

A drawn weekend for Kildare senior men and women footballers.

Both teams had excellent performance.

Kildare men footballers began their Division 2 League campaign away to Tyrone in Omagh on Saturday evening.

Kfm's commentary was in association with Hanlon Concrete, Robertstown.

Despite being down to 14 for the final quarter, the inexperienced side never gave up.

Brian McLoughlin's two pointer in added time secured a valuable draw.

The game finished:  Kildare 1-19 Tyrone 2-16

Kfm will be awarding a player of the match for each of this season's Kildare football and hurling league games, in association with Frank McMahon and Co, Auditors and Accountants Kildare, Naas and Dublin.

It was easy for our commentary team of Ger McNally and Philie Wolfe to pick the winner of Saturdays game: Clane's Brian McLoughlin scorer of 9 points, including the match levelling late, late two pointer.

Kildare will be home to Offaly next Saturday evening from 6pm, while the same evening the hurlers begin their Division 1B league away to Dublin at 7.30.

Kfm will have commentary of both games.

The Kildare women footballers began their Division 1 League campaign away to Cork yesterday.

The Pat Sullivan managed side were held to an added time draw. Kildare led throughout, and 20 minutes into the 2nd half, Aoife Murnane's goal put them 3 points ahead.

But, Cork clawed their way back getting the levelling point 5 minutes into injury time.

Final score: Kildare 2-7 Cork 1-10.

This morning's Kildare Today with Hannah Kelly will be joined by commentator Ger McNally and Kfm's Clem Ryan to review both football games.

From 6.25pm this evening, Kildare Scoreboard will have manager and player interviews, along with a review of the rest of the weekend Kildare Sport.
