Harry Kane missed a late penalty as England's World Cup hopes came to an end with a 2-1 defeat to France in the quarter-finals.

He'd equalised from the spot earlier in the match to move level with Wayne Rooney's all-time England goal scoring record.

France will play Morocco next.

They became the first African side to reach the last-four in the tournament's history with a 1-nil win over Portugal.

Leinster beat Racing 92 by 42 -10 in their opening Heineken Champions Cup game.

Josh van der Flier scored two tries,  with Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan, Garry Ringrose and Ed Byrne getting the others.

Connacht beat Newcastle 22-points-to-8 in their opening Challenge Cup game at the Sportsground.
