Cavan won by 2-12 to 1-9 in O’Connor Park Tullamore.

Naas and Allenwood are Hanlon Concrete Senior Football League Division 1 and 2 champions.

Following yesterday’s Nations Championship 40-21 defeat by New Zealand, Andy Farrell admitted his side made things difficult for themselves.
In the post match conference, he said: "We're disappointed with ourselves, we're full of pride because of the fight, but we're disappointed with how it unfolded”.
He said the two sides are certainly closer than the result indicates.
Four Kildare players took part, all having good games: Eadestown’s Jimmy O’Brien on the wing, while Tadhg Beirne captained the side, Suncroft’s Sam Prendergast at out half, and Athy’s Jeremy Loughman who came off the bench at prop.
Golf
In golf at the Open Championship, Sam Burns on 10 under par, is 2 ahead of Ryan Fox and Si-Woo Kim.
Burns followed his 2nd round 62 with a 65 yesterday.
Shane Lowry had a 69, to lie 4 under par.
Rory McIlroy also shot a 69, he’s 1 under.
Soccer
In the World Cup, England secured their best finish at a World Cup since they lifted the trophy in 1966 by beating France in a remarkable third place play-off.
They bounced back from the semi-final defeat to Argentina, to beat France 6-4 in Miami.
Argentina and Spain meet in this evening’s final, kick-off at 8pm.
It’s the first time the champions of South America and European champions meet in a World Cup final.
Athletics
Mark English has run an 800 metres personal best at the London Diamond League.
The Donegal athlete clocked 1 minute 42-point-97 seconds to finish runner-up and break the one minute 43 second barrier for the first time.
Sarah Healy was third in the 3,000 metres with a personal best.
Formula One
Formula One world championship leader Kimi Antonelli has pole position for today's Belgian Grand Prix.
He'll share the front row with Red Bull's Max Verstappen, while his Mercedes team-mate George Russell will go from third.
Defending champion Lando Norris finished 3rd in qualifying, but was demoted to 13th by a grid place penalty.
Racing
