Katie Taylor has signed off in style, retiring as a three-time undisputed world boxing champion.

The Bray fighter became the unified super-lightweight champion after getting a unanimous decision victory over Flora Pili in front of more than 80-thousand fans at Croke Park.

Taylor says it was a dream to get to end her career in front of a capacity crowd at the home of the GAA:

The Kildare Club Football Championships continue today, the results so far are;

Group D, Clogherinkoe 2-14 Moorefield 0-20 a draw, Naas 4-21 Eadestown 1-14.

National Electrical Wholesalers Intermediate Football Championship Group A, Leixlip 2-17 Straffan 0-14, Suncroft 0-16 Confey 1-11.

Group B, Round Towers 5-16 Kilcullen 0-12, St Laurence’s 2-20 Monasterevin 1-16.

The Quarter Finals Draw will take place this evening at 6.15pm.

Group B, Castlemitchell 3-17 Ballykelly 1-11, Cappagh 3-13 Kildangan 2-10.

Group C, Kill 1-18 Ardclough 0-1, Ballymore Eustace 0-14 Athgarvan 0-13.

Quarter finals in Junior A, Rheban v Ballykelly and Kildangan v Ardclough.

Today in the Joe Mallon Motor Senior Football Championship Group A, Allenwood play Clane at 3.45pm, before Celbridge play Johnstownbridge this evening at 5 o’clock.

In Group C, Athy play Sallins at 2, then Kilcock play Raheens at 3.30pm.

In the National Electrical Wholesalers Intermediate Football Championship Group B, Ellistown play Castledermot and Rathangan play Two Mile House, both from 3.30pm.

In Group C, both games throw-in at 2pm, when Ballyteague play Grangenolvin and Milltown play Nurney.

Soccer

In local soccer, Newbridge Town had their first home game in the new FAI National League yesterday.

Their opponents were Villa FC of Waterford who won 5-1.

It’s a busy day in the KDFL with a large number of Cup and League games.

We’ll have all the results in tomorrow evening’s Kildare Scoreboard from 6.25pm.

Bohemians are into the semi-finals of the Club Orange FAI Cup following yesterday’s win over St. Pats.

The game finished scoreless with Bohs winning 8-7 on penalties.

Today, Derry City play Dundalk in the remaining quarter-final, where they could join the other semi-finalists Waterford and Galway United.

In the Premier League, Manchester United play Everton at 2pm, before reigning champions Arsenal play a rejuvenated Chelsea at 4.30pm.

Rugby

In rugby, there was a number of club rugby games yesterday.

In Leinster Senior League Group 1, MU Barnhall 40 Wanderers 7.

In the North Midlands Hosie Cup Quarter Finals, Clane 39 Naas 41, and Portlaoise 12 Athy 93.

Golf

In golf, The Great Britain and Ireland team will need to win seven points today if they're to secure golf's Walker Cup for the first time in 11 years.

The hosts lead six-and-a-half to five-and-a-half after the first day's play at Lahinch, where Offaly's Stuart Grehan beat the world's leading amateur Preston Stout in the singles.

There will be four foursomes matches all this morning ahead of the singles this afternoon at 1.30pm.
