O’Byrne Cup football Group A

Weds, Jan 4th away to Wexford

Saturday, Jan 7th home to Louth

Weds, Jan. 11th, away to Westmeath

Group B is Carlow, Meath, Laois and Longford

Group C is Dublin, Wicklow, Offaly

In the semi finals on Sunday January 15th, the winners of Group A play winners of Group C

The winners of Group B have a bye to the final on Friday night January 20th

Keogh Cup hurling

Round 1 Thurs, Jan 5th home to Carlow

Round 2: Kildare have a bye

Round 3 Sunday, Jan 15th, away to Wicklow

Round 4, Sunday, Jan 22nd home to Down

Round 5, Saturday Jan 28th, away to Meath 

The overall winner will be the team finishing top of the table.

Sarsfields GAA Club has decided not to lodge any further appeal regarding the abandoned Whitewater Shopping Centre U23 football quarter final..

The quarter final against Naas was level at full-time.

The Sash manager was red carded in the first half but wanted to be re-admitted for extra time, which the referee turned down.

Following some verbal exchanges between a club official and the referee, the latter abandoned the game, without extra time being played

Sarsfield’s initial appeals to Kildare GAA were unsuccessful.  They, then, took their case to Leinster Council who turned it down last night.

Naas will now play Clane in the semi-final, with the winners playing Maynooth in the final.

In the final round of Group F fixtures at the World Cup.

Croatia 0 Belgium 0.

Morocco lead Canada by 2-goals to 1.

Morocco are through as group winners with Croatia runners-up and Belgium out.

Germany are looking to avoid back-to-back group stage exits tonight.

Only a win will do for them against Costa Rica, while they also need Spain to beat Japan.

Japan also need a victory, but a draw could be enough if Germany and Costa Rica finish level.

Ireland Hockey have finished top of their pool at the Men’s Nations Cup, with a 100 per cent record.

Shane O’Donoghue scored the only goal of the game as Ireland beat South Africa this afternoon.

Ireland will play Malaysia in the semi final on Saturday.
