Today's race meeting at Clonmel goes ahead after the course passed a morning inspection.

RUGBY

Leinster will be boosted by the availability of Cian Healy for Saturday's Champions Cup clash with Racing.

The prop has been cleared to play after the red card he received against Ulster last weekend was overturned.

Healy was dismissed for a challenge on Tom Stewart.

GAA

Last night, the annual Kildare GAA County Board convention took place in the Osprey Hotel, Naas.

All the outgoing officers were returned unopposed.

Treasurer Alan Dunny reported a surplus of €1.1 million for the year.

€650,000 of that will be transferred to the St. Conleth’s Park Development Fund, which will now stand at €1.65 million.

Kildare Nationalist Sports Editor, Pat Costello will join Eoin Beatty at 10.45pm on Kildare Today this morning with the details of last nights meeting.

GOLF

Gary Hurley has made a great start on day one of the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa,

He is 3 under par through 6 holes of his opening round, two shots behind leader Jaco Prinsloo (pr: Yaco).

John Murphy is 2 over par playing the seventh.

Tom McKibbin tees off at 10am Irish time.

SOCCER

Raheem Sterling is set to return to the England squad, but probably not in time to feature in Saturday's World Cup quarter final against France in Qatar.

He left the squad last weekend after reports of a break in at his home.

Hansi Flick is to remain as manager of the German national team.

The endorsement from the DFB comes on the back of Germany's group stage exit at the World Cup.

They suffered a shock defeat to Japan in Group E, and eventually finished third.

Flick is now set to oversee Germany's campaign at Euro 2024 - a tournament they will host.

Arsenal are top of Group C in the Women's Champions League.

Vivianne Miedema scored the goal in their 1-nil win over Juventus last night.

In the same group, Lyon were 4-nil winners over Zurich.

Chelsea are among the sides in action tonight.

They're away to Real Madrid from 8pm.

RACING

Today's race meeting at Clonmel goes ahead after the course passed a morning inspection.

There's a seven-race card with the first off at 12.05.

Punchestown and Cork will monitor the weather situation ahead of their big race days on Sunday.
