Kildare senior footballers will wind down training tonight for Saturday’s All Ireland pre-liminary quarter final vs Monaghan in Tullamore at 4.45pm

 The throws in at 4.45pm.  More Music Sportsbeat Saturday from 2pm, with Oisin Coyne, will have the build-up to the game and commentary with Ger McNally and Seamus Dillon in association with Hanlon Concrete

 The women footballers are in action on Sunday in Manguard Park Hawkfield at 1.30pm in the All Ireland Intermediate championship

SOCCER

The Republic of Ireland women's team play Zambia in a friendly international at a sold out Tallaght Stadium this evening.

Kick off is at 7.30.

It's manager Vera Pauw's last chance to take a look at her players before she trims her squad to 23 next week ahead of the World Cup.

Brentford have had a second bid for Republic of Ireland defender Nathan Collins rejected.

The Leixlip native fell out of favour at Wolves during the second half of last season.

Collins' international team-mate Dara O'Shea is set to return to the Premier League with Burnley.

The Clarets have agreed a deal with West Bromwich Albion and O'Shea is due to have a medical today.

He's 2 under par after 3 holes, one shot behind leader Aaron Cockerill.

HORSE RACING

The Gold Cup is the feature race at Royal Ascot today.

Trainer Willie Mullins bids to win the prize for the first time with 'Echoes In Rain', while 'Emily Dickinson' is the leading hope from Aidan O'Brien's stable.

It goes to post at 4.20.

There's also a meeting here at home at Leopardstown, with the first off there at 4.40.
