Before that, Mark English and John Fitzsimons are both in action in the 800-metres heats.

And Sarah Lavin will look to continue her good form in the heats for the 100-metres hurdles.

RUGBY

Leinster Rugby Head Coach Leo Cullen has confirmed a further two additions to his senior squad for the 2023/24 season.

Lee Barron and Sam Prendergast will start the new season in the senior ranks having impressed for Cullen in their appearances to date.

Outhalf Sam Prendergast also made his debut in South Africa starting in a player of the match performance against the Emirates Lions in Johannesburg in April 2023.

The Suncroft native, a brother of senior international Cian, won Grand Slams with the Ireland U-20s in 2022 and 2023, as well as leading Ireland to the final of the U-20s World Cup in South Africa in July.

Hooker Lee Barron has been capped at Ireland U-20s level and has played six times for Leinster in the URC.

Leinster Rugby play their first game of the pre-season schedule against Munster Rugby on Friday, 8 September, away in Musgrave Park.

Dan Sheehan could be set to miss Ireland's entire World Cup pool campaign with a foot injury.

The Ireland coaching staff will provide a fitness update later today.

Sheehan hasn't travelled with the rest of the squad to France ahead of the warm-up match with Samoa on Saturday.

The draw for the quarter-finals of the FAI Cup will take place at 12:30pm this afternoon.

Galway United and Cork City will both be in the hat after they both won their second round ties last night.

Bohemians, Drogheda United, Dundalk, Finn Harps, St Patrick's Athletic and Wexford make up the last eight.

Chelsea have this morning confirmed Carney Chukwuemeka has undergone surgery on a knee injury.

He picked up the problem against West Ham at the weekend and is now set for six weeks on the sidelines.

Newcastle have confirmed the loan signing of Chelsea defender Lewis Hall.

The deal includes an obligation to buy next summer.

Hall is the fifth arrival of the summer at St James' Park.
