Novak Djokovic is through to the second round at the US Open.

GAA

Following last Thursday night's fixtures, the following has been the outcome of the results:

Milltown have joined Robertstown in the Semi Finals.

Athgarvan will play Rathcoffey in the Quarter Final. The winners will play Roberstown in the Semi Finals.

Grangenolvin will Play Kill in the other Quarter Final. The winners will play Milltown in the Semi Finals. 

The following teams will now contest the Junior A Championship.

 

TENNIS

Novak Djokovic is through to the second round at the US Open.

He dropped just five games in a straight sets win over Alexandre Muller at Flushing Meadows.

The result means Djokovic will return to world number one, ahead of Carlos Alcaraz.

In the women's draw, home favourite Coco Gauff is safely through after a win in three sets over Laura Siegemund.

And former world number one Caroline Wozniacki made a winning return with a straight sets victory against Tatiana Prozorova.


SOCCER

Vera Pauw's future as manager of the Republic of Ireland senior women's team is likely to be decided today.

The FAI board is set to meet to consider a report on the entire World Cup campaign.

Pauw's contract has now expired, with Ireland set to face Northern Ireland in the Nations League next month.

Fulham's meeting with Tottenham is the standout fixture in tonight's Carabao Cup second round action.

Five other Premier League sides are in action, with Newport playing host to Brentford.

Romelu Lukaku will complete a loan move to Roma today.

The Serie A club will pay Chelsea 6-million euro in a loan fee, while covering the striker's reduced wages.

Despite the pay cut, Lukaku will still earn 7-point-5 million this season.


CYCLING

Eddie Dunbar begins the fourth stage of the Vuelta Espana 42nd on general classification.

The Irish rider is 3-minutes and 32-seconds adrift of race leader Remco Evenepoel.

Today’s 185-kilometre stage should culminate in a sprint in Tarragona.
