Tuesday Morning Sports Update

Keeping you up to date on soccer, rugby, and boxing.

SOCCER

Danny Mullen's late goal earned Dundalk another draw in the League of Ireland Premier Division last night.

The visitors took a point from their meeting with Shamrock Rovers at Tallaght Stadium, where it finished 1-all.

It means Dundalk have now taken a point from each of their three matches since returning to the top flight.

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick says he can't fault Benjamin Sesko's work-rate after the striker came off the bench to score in a 1-nil Premier League win at Everton.

The 75-million euro summer signing is yet to start under the interim head coach, despite scoring six goals in his last seven matches in all competitions.

Newcastle aim to secure their place in the last-16 of the Champions League tonight.

They have a commanding 6-1 lead going into the home leg of their play-off with Qarabag.

Bodo Glimt are chasing a huge upset as they take a 3-1 advantage into their tie with Inter Milan.

Bayer Leverkusen lead Olympiacos 2-nil, while Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge are level at 3-all.

RUGBY

James Lowe has emerged as an injury doubt for Ireland's Six Nations clash with Wales on Friday week.

The winger has a groin problem, but will remain with the squad for a two-day training camp which begins tomorrow.

11 players have been released to play with their provinces in the URC this weekend.

BOXING

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are set to meet in the ring again later this year.

The pair, who went head to head in 2015 in the richest fight in boxing history, will enter the ring on the 19th of September in Las Vegas.

Both men have come out of retirement in recent years, with Mayweather looking to preserve his perfect professional record having won all 50 of his bouts.
