The MLS side failed to qualify for the play-offs this season.
Wayne Rooney has left Major Soccer League club DC United by mutual consent.
The former Manchester United and England player became the club's manager in July last year, but the team have had a difficult time under his guidance and failed to qualify for the post season.
In a statement, Rooney said it was "the right time" to leave - adding that he'd "done everything I can to get this club into the playoffs".
