Sadio Mane was taken to hospital in Cameroon last night, after suffering a suspected concussion.

Mane had given Senegal the lead in a 2-0 win over Cape Verde in the last-16 at the Africa Cup of Nations, minutes after clashing heads with the opposition keeper.

The 29 year-old thanked people for their well wishes on social media, after he required assistance in leaving the pitch.

Senegal will play the winners of this evening's meeting of Mali and Equatorial Guinea in the last 8.

Morocco await the winners of this afternoon's heavyweight clash of Egypt and Ivory Coast.

Roy Hodgson is the latest manager tasked with keeping Watford in the Premier League.

The 74 year-old became the 15th managerial appointment in eleven years.

His first match in charge of Watford - away to Burnley - will see him go head to head with the first manager sacked by the Pozzo family, Sean Dyche.

Julian Alvarez is the latest South American talent to be snapped up by Manchester City.

The Premier League leaders have agreed a fee of €18.5 million with River Plate for the striker.

Alvarez has already won five senior caps for Argentina, but will remain in Buenos Aires until July.

Ireland's Connor Ronan was on the mark as St Mirren beat Aberdeen 1-0 in the Scottish Premiership last night.

Tonight, Celtic go to Hearts, with leaders Rangers at home to Livingston.

Those matches kick off at 7.45pm.

TENNIS

Men's fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas is into the semi finals of the men's singles at the Australian Open.

Tsitsipas will now face either second seed Daniil Medvedev or Felix Auger-Aliassime.

They are on court at 8.30am Irish time.

Danielle Collins and Iga Swiatek will meet in the semi-finals of the women's singles.

Cooney is recovering from a calf strain, while McCloskey is out with a hamstring injury.
