Ireland face a must-win game at the women's Hockey World Cup later against Germany in Pool A, knowing anything less than victory will see them exit the tournament.

The Germans are second in the group, having already beaten Chile, while Ireland are bottom after back-to-back defeats.

The women's European Championships get underway this evening.

The hosts, England, feature in the opening match against Austria in Group A from 8pm at Old Trafford.

Northern Ireland are in the same group - they play Norway tomorrow.
