Russian Military exercises to take place off the coast of Cork next week
The Foreign Affairs Minister has warned the consequences for Russia will be enormous if the country invades Ukraine.
Russian troops have been massing on the border amid rising international tensions.
Warships are also on the way to Ireland to take part in military exercises off the Co. Cork coast next week.
Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney says he hopes a resolution can be found through dialogue:
Fishermen will meet with the Russian Ambassador this morning to outline their concerns about the live-fire military exercise.
The naval exercises are due to take place in Ireland's Exclusive Economic Zone.
The fishermen have said they plan to protest at sea.
The Irish government says the drills are "not welcome".
The Department of Transport is warning ships of a "serious safety risk".
However the Russian Military's actions are lawful.
The Russian Naval Service have shared the coordinates of the exercise, which it says will involve naval artillery and rockets.
Patrick Murphy, of the Irish South and West Fish Producer's Organisation, says they have been invited to Dublin by the Ambassador to air their concerns:
