Nominations closed in the DUP leadership race yesterday evening, with 2 candidates put forward.

Edwin Poots is currently serving as Northern Ireland Executive Minister for Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, and Jeffrey Donaldson the current DUP Parliamentary Leader & UK Trade Envoy to Egypt.

The two men will go head-to-head in the election next Friday, as they seek to replace Arlene Foster.

The party's 36 MPs and MLAs will vote on the 14th May.

Ms. Foster is resigning as party leader in three weeks time, and as First Minister at the end of June.

Three candidates have been nominated for Deputy Leader - Paula Bradley, Gregory Campbell and Paul Frew.
