Hit with incoming fire in the village of Horenka, outside of Kyiv
Irishman Pierre Zakrzewski has been described as brave and heroic by those who knew him.
Pierre & his colleague, Oleksandra 'Sasha' Kuvshynova were killed after the vehicle they were travelling in, was hit with incoming fire in Horenka, a village just outside of Kyiv, while reporting for American network Fox News.
24 year-old Ms. Kuvshynova worked as a consultant in Ukraine for Fox News, while Mr. Zakrzewski worked as a cameraman.
55 year-old, Pierre was a former student of St. Conleth's College, secondary school in Dublin - graduating in 1984.
He is survived by his wife Michelle, his mother, Maire-Ange Zakrzewska, and his five siblings.
Two of his brothers and his mother live in Ireland.
In a statement on Twitter Michael D Higgins, said he had offered his deepest sympathies to Mr. Zakrzewski family.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin said he was “deeply disturbed and saddened by the killing".
