The measure was introduced by the Government last year
As of mid-November, almost 2,500 people in Kildare had availed of the Government’s Rent Tax Credit.
The RTC was introduced in 2022 in order to give renters some relief amid rising inflation and last year, over 8,700 Kildare people availed of the measure.
Figures from the Department of Housing show that so far, in 2023, 2,443 people in this county received the credit, while the figure nationally is almost 65,000.
The maximum value of the credit is €1,000 per year in the case of a jointly assessed couple, and €500 in all other cases, and it is expected to rise in 2024 and 2025.
