Transition Year students to gain paid experience through new Elevate 2025 programme
A new Transition Year initiative is offering hands-on hospitality experience to local students at one of Ireland’s biggest sporting events.
Punchestown Racecourse, catering company Aramark, and St. Kevin’s Community College in Dunlavin have teamed up to launch Elevate 2025 — a programme designed to give students real-world experience in food and beverage service.
As part of the scheme, 70 students will be employed by Aramark for paid roles at the Punchestown Festival, running from April 29th to May 3rd, where they’ll help serve up to 17,000 hospitality guests.
In the run-up to the event, 119 students completed a five-week training programme, which included classroom learning and practical workshops led by Aramark trainers.
Punchestown’s Hospitality Manager Sue Wilson said the project, which started as a conversation with a local teacher, has already attracted international interest and could serve as a model for similar programmes abroad.
