Research from The Journal found 99 derelict properties were acquired by councils via Compulsory Purchase Orders in 2025.
Kildare County Council purchased seven properties through the CPO last year.
They were:
- 12 Willow Crescent in Celbridge
- 27 St Corban’s Place in Naas
- The Bargain Store and Tattoo Shop on Station Road in Kildare Town
- O’Modhrain Hall on Cutlery Road in Newbridge
- 649 St Patrick’s Park in Celbridge
- The old Garda station on Leinster Street in Rathangan
- A property on Leinster Street in Rathangan
Dublin City Council was among four local authorities which only acquired one.
Cavan, Donegal, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Galway County, Galway City, Laois, Longford, Louth, Sligo, South Dublin, Tipperary, and Wicklow were the eleven local authorites who required no derelict homes via CPO last year.
