Kildare people to be aware not to believe everything they see on TikTok as it can be false or harmful content

There's a call for more steps to be taken to protect young people from harmful content online.

Fianna Fail TD Brendan Smith wants a ban on social media platforms' use of recommender algorithms.

He says companies like Meta and TikTok, have serious obligations to address cyberbullying and eliminate hate on their sites.

Deputy Smith says the Online Safety Code must tackle the algorithms which spread violence:
