The protest has particular significance for Kildare, where several major data centre developments have been proposed.
Kildare residents are expected to join campaigners from across Ireland in Dublin today, Saturday the 7th of November. to protest against the expansion of data centres.
The demonstration is organised by Friends of Earth Ireland, alongside community groups, and will begin at the Garden of Remembrance at 12 noon.
The protest has particular significance for Kildare, where several major data centre developments have been proposed.
Among them is Herbata Ltd's €3 billion development near Naas, which received planning permission from Kildare County Council but is now under appeal to An Coimisiún Pleanála.
Microsoft also acquired land at Jigginstown in Naas, which is zoned for data centre development.
Campaigners have raised concerns about the electricity demands and environmental impact of additional facilities, with Friends of the Earth arguing that further expansion could increase pressure on Ireland's energy infrastructure.
Today's demonstration forms part of a wider European day of action, involving more than 100 groups across 15 countries.
