An Bord Pleanala has granted permission, on appeal, for a solar farm in Kildare with a footprint of almost 50 hectares.
BNRG Neoen Holdings Ltd sought leave of KCC last November, for the project on a site at Rahilla Glebe, Dunmurry West and Guidenstown South
It is "within the site of the Dunmurry Springs Golf Club".
The application included a 30 year operational lifespa, and the mounting of solar panels on an area of up to 92,024 m².
KCC refused permission, and the firm referred the application to An Bord Pleanala.
The national planning authority has granted leave for the project, attaching 11 conditions.

The development description, as published by Kildare County Council, is "is sought for a period of 10 years with an operational period of up to 30 years for a ground mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) farm on a site area of 49.74 hectares within the site of the Dunmurry Springs Golf Club. The proposed development consists of solar photovoltaic panels covering an area of up to 92,024 m² on ground mounted steel frames; 1 no. 38 kV on-site substation/control room and palisade fencing; up to 10 no. inverter/transformer container units; underground cabling and ducts; boundary security fence; use of existing entrance to public road at Dunmurry Springs Golf Club; new and upgraded internal access tracks; upgrade of an existing maintenance access onto the public road; construction of a maintenance shed; CCTV cameras; 1 no. temporary site compound; landscaping and all ancillary site services and works within the townlands of
