These service gaps, in place since a 2012 HSE shift change, have left residents reliant on emergency resources from elsewhere in the county or even further afield.
A long-awaited upgrade to emergency medical services in Baltinglass is set to take effect later this year, with the confirmation that 24/7 ambulance coverage will be operational by the third quarter of 2025.
The move will close critical gaps that had left each town without coverage for 12 hours one day a week.
Currently, Baltinglass lacks ambulance coverage every Monday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., a situation mirrored in Arklow on Tuesdays.
These service gaps, in place since a 2012 HSE shift change, have left residents reliant on emergency resources from elsewhere in the county or even further afield.
Social Democrats TD for Wicklow, Jennifer Whitmore, said the gaps in ambulance service were "unacceptable and posed a real threat" to community safety.
